Let (G,+) be an abelian group. A finite multiset A over G is said to give a λ-fold factorization of G if there exists a multiset B over G such that each element of G occurs λ times in the multiset A+B:={a+b:aA,bB}. In this article, restricting G to a cyclic group, we will provide sufficient conditions on a given multiset A under which the exact value or an upper bound of the minimum multiplicity λ of a factorization of G can be given by introducing a concept of ‘lcm-closure’. Furthermore, a couple of properties on a given factor A will be shown when A has a prime or prime power order (cardinality). In this paper we consider the long-time asymptotics of a linear version of the Smoluchowski equation which describes the evolution of a tagged particle moving in a random distribution of fixed particles. The volumes v of these particles are independently distributed according to a probability distribution which decays asymptotically as a power law v?σ. The validity of the equation has been rigorously proved in [22] taking as a starting point a particle model and for values of the exponent σ>3, but the model can be expected to be valid, on heuristic grounds, for σ>53. The resulting equation is a non-local linear degenerate parabolic equation. The solutions of this equation display a rich structure of different asymptotic behaviors according to the different values of the exponent σ. Here we show that for 53<σ<2 the linear Smoluchowski equation is well-posed and that there exists a unique self-similar profile which is asymptotically stable.  相似文献

The interaction of weak noise and regular signals with a shock wave having a finite width is studied in the framework of the Burgers equation model. The temporal realization of the random process located behind the front approaches it at supersonic speed. In the process of moving to the front, the intensity of noise decreases and the correlation time increases. In the central region of the shock front, noise reveals non-trivial behaviour. For large acoustic Reynolds numbers the average intensity can increase and reach a maximum value at a definite distance. The behaviour of statistical characteristics is studied using linearized Burgers equation with variable coefficients reducible to an autonomous equation. This model allows one to take into account not only the finite width of the front, but the attenuation and diverse character of initial profiles and spectra as well. Analytical solutions of this equation are derived. Interaction of regular signals of complex shape with the front is studied by numerical methods. Some illustrative examples of ongoing processes are given. Among possible applications, the controlling the spectra of signals, in particular, noise suppression by irradiating it with shocks or sawtooth waves can be mentioned.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a viscoelastic wave equation of variable coefficients in the presence of past history with nonlinear damping and delay in the internal feedback and dynamic boundary conditions. Under suitable assumptions, we establish an explicit and general decay rate result without imposing restrictive assumption on the behavior of the relaxation function at infinity by Riemannian geometry method and Lyapunov functional method.  相似文献

We study the existence of a time‐periodic solution with pointwise decay properties to the Navier–Stokes equation in the whole space. We show that if the time‐periodic external force is sufficiently small in an appropriate sense, then there exists a time‐periodic solution { u , p } of the Navier–Stokes equation such that | ? j u ( t , x ) | = O ( | x | 1 ? n ? j ) and | ? j p ( t , x ) | = O ( | x | ? n ? j ) ( j = 0 , 1 , ) uniformly in t R as | x | . Our solution decays faster than the time‐periodic Stokes fundamental solution and the faster decay of its spatial derivatives of higher order is also described.  相似文献
